Pumps & Piping

Project Overview

NORA

Provide a new pump, motor and associated pipework, equipment and controls to allow transfer of fuel between storage tanks, and to a ship berthed at the jetty.

Challenges

Construction takes place in a bund with a liner, meaning risk of lining damage had to be managed. The fixed electrical supply to the site was not capable of supplying the motor, so the motor was supplied from a generator. The site was unmanned, leading to use of a double mechanical seal on the pump.

Hugh Munro Role

Design responsibility for civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, control, instrumentation and automation engineering. Draft equipment specification for pump & motor and manage procurement process. Develop service specifications for the installation works. This included pipework and equipment layouts, pipe stress analysis, issuing deign drawings to contractors, interface with tank gauging system. Act as PSDP. Oversee commissioning.
